"They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles' and to the fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer Acts 2:42"Family gathering 06' Jesus Youth Family of Hyderabad gathers for a whole day of fellowship.
"Connected to God,Connected to each other - Through Jesus our Lord" - Get Connected!
A family gathering was organized by the JY-Hyd team on 16th Jul. 06. This was attended by JY members (Hyd), the nurses ministry, Campus and Teens ministry and regular members of the Central Prayer Group (CPG), Hyderabad. This was a one day program arranged at St.Francis college, Begumpet with the sole idea of building greater fellowship among JY members.
The program was titled “Get Connected” – A subtle reminder to everyone to always be connected with GOD and with one another.
There were 108 participants in all who attended this family gathering. There were some members who were from different parts of Andhra Pradesh who had come to experience the fellowship and sharing, to take back with them and spread it in their own regions.
The program started at 9:30 am with Action songs and everyone was encouraged to sing and dance for the Lord. Eabin (JY-Hyd) was the MC for the day who then conducted an ice breaking event, were everyone whole heartedly participated. This was followed by a very energetic and vibrant choreography put up by JY-Hyd members. The theme was “One in Heart, One in Mind”. This was well taken by the participants and everyone were left reeling for more.
A resource person, Bernard (JY-Nagpur) was called in to partake in our gathering. Bernard, led us all into a time of “Praise and worship”, followed by the Scripture reading, and a time where Bernard shared “THE WORD” along with his inspiring testimony.
Bernard shared some of his personal experiences of his life as to how his life had changed and his relationship with Christ kept increasing only because of the fellowship he shared with GOD & his fellow Christians. He quoted several verses from the scriptures, which showed the fellowship shared by the Jews, since the old times and the apostles in the new testament while preaching the good news. He also mentioned that he had left his career as a successful lawyer to work for the Lord for one complete year and how the Lord had blessed him. This truly inspired many.
We had 2 priests Fr. Vincent(Youth director–Hyd) and Fr. Bosco(Youth director-Vijayawada), who then shared with us some light moments and presented a short talk.
A workshop was conducted by Annette (full timer JY-Hyd) and Ashvin (Jy-Hyd). This included 2 parts. The first was a jigsaw puzzle wherein all the participants were divided into teams and each of them were given paper pieces of the JY logo, which they needed to re-assemble. The second was about the story of “The Broken Key” – This exercise elicited the importance of a broken key on a typewriter, its value & worth and compared that to the role of every Christian in the church. This story gave an insight as to how important all of us and our contributions are for the church? Like all the keys form a typewriter and each key has its importance, likewise every individual is important and together all of them form the church.
The groups were then asked to discuss how they relate themselves to the broken key and were asked to answer a few questions as part of their discussion.
Lunch was served after this, aptly arranged by Ian(JY-Hyd) and Alex(JY-Hyd).
Everyone assembled back in the hall at about 1:30pm and the session started off with Action songs.
Bro. Adolf(Animator, JY Hyd), then explained to everyone the importance of the theme song “One in heart, One in mind”, and encouraged everybody to learn and sing this song.
A skit was performed which conveyed the message that without the support of Christ in our lives we cannot go a step ahead. It doesn’t matter how strong we are? How good and smart we are? If we don’t have Christ we have got nothing at all.
Shibu (JY-Hyd), then introduced JY to the gathering. An update on all the JY events which happened this year and all the upcoming programs in Hyd and AP, was well presented in the form of a video and powerpoint slides. Members from various ministries then shared their experiences and testimonies too.
There was a short tea break and after this Prakash (Co-ordinator JY Hyd) then took control of the next session. The audience was divided into different smaller groups and each group had to come up with written commitments of how they would like to foster fellowship within their own regions.
Prakash encouraged everyone to give their personal commitments, to have greater fellowship and continue on the JY activities whenever & wherever possible.
Bro. Adolf, Bernard, Russel (JY Hyd) and Vignan(JY Hyd) then lead everyone into a precious time of Praise and Worship. Fr. Bosco made the exposition of the “Blessed Sacrament” and everyone went down on their knees to praise and thank God for the many blessings and graces they have been endowed upon. This marked the closure of the family gathering with the final blessing of the Blesssed Sacrament.
“Get Connected” – was an initiative taken up by JY–Hyd to strengthen the bond of fellowship, based on the lifestyle of the first disciples according to the “Acts of the Apostles”.
